Parikia is an original sample of a cycladic
settlement with picturesque narrow streets and traditional houses. These
elements together with stone arches found inside and outside these house
make what we call Paros’ Architecture. Wandering along the narrow streets
is undoubtedly a pleasant experience for the visitor. Paros or Parikia
as the locals call it, has a population of 3,000 people and it is the capital
of the island. As in most tourist islands, during the summer tourist period,
Parikia «sinks» from the crowds of tourists, the majority of whom is young
people from all over the world.
A lot of shops, restaurants, tavernas,
bars, pubs give Parikia a lively tourist character from sunset till dawn.
In the early morning hours, when the crowds of tourists have gone either
to rest after an all-night party or to enjoy swimming in one of the superb
beaches of the island, then Parikia regains its real cycladic style and
shows off its beauties. |
